There are two costs associated with the program: Tuition (based on enrolment as a domestic or international student) and the Program Fee ($4,000).
Program Fee: $4,000
As this is an off-campus program, there are numerous program-related costs that tuition alone cannot cover. Costs related to the program are classroom space, instructor stipends, guest speaker honoraria, transportation for field trips, field equipment and safety gear (i.e. hard hats, high visibility vests, etc.), a two-day guided tour of Gwaii Haanas or T'aalan Stl'ang to name but a few.
A $500 non-refundable deposit must be received to secure your seat in the program. Deposits are applied as the initial payment towards the HGI program fee. Please refer to the information package HGI provided to you upon your acceptance for specific information on how and when to submit your fees.
University of British Columbia Tuition
Tuition is paid to UBC directly and is based on enrolment as a domestic or international student. The fee includes the tuition costs for fifteen 300-level UBC credits. For more information, please visit the UBC Student Services website.
Additional Costs: Please note that students are responsible for covering the costs of transportation to and from Haida Gwaii, accommodation while on-island, and the costs of any recreational activities outside of the program.
