There are two streams of payment: the Haida Gwaii Higher Education Society (HGHES) Program Fee ($4000) and University of British Columbia (UBC) Tuition.
HGHES Program Fee: $4000
The HGHES program fee helps to cover such costs as field trips, field equipment, and safety gear (i.e. hard hats, high visibility vests, etc.); on-island transportation associated with courses; guest speaker honoraria; access to required course readings; a two-day guided tour of Gwaii Haanas or T'aalan Stl'ang, including catering and accommodation; other special events.
A $500 non-refundable deposit much be received to secure your seat in the program. Deposits are applied as the initial payment towards the HGHES program fee. Please refer to the information package HGHES provided to you upon your acceptance for specific information on how and when to submit your fees.
University of British Columbia Tuition
Tuition is paid to UBC directly and is based on enrolment as a domestic or international student. The fee includes the tuition costs for fifteen 300-level UBC credits. Fore more information, please visit this link.
Additional Costs: Please note that students are responsible for covering the costs of transportation to and from Haida Gwaii, accommodation while on-island, and the costs of any recreation activities outside of the program.
